EMD Creative Tools Course
Formerly known as the EMD Summer Choreographic Workshop, Creative Tools is a course that offers participants a chance to expand their choreographic ability while under the watchful eye of renowned choreographer Elisa Monte. This program is open to choreographers 18 years or older, who have at least 3 years of professional experience in dance and choreography. During this process, participants will have access to movement labs where they can explore different ways to create and manipulate movement while receiving feedback artist to artist lead by a facilitator; discussion sessions lead by rotating guest choreographers, culminating in a performance opportunity. This course is run under the STEPS on Broadway, Summer Study NYC Program.
2012: June 18th - July 15th & July 16th - August 11th
This year the annual EMD Choreographic Workshop was a part of the STEPS Summer Study NYC Program as the new Creative Tools course. This new partnership enhanced what we were able to give our choreographic students, as well as gave EMD a home for this unique workshop. Thank you to our wonderful guest choreographers, Sidra Bell, Francesca Harper, Loni Landon, Nelly van Bommel , Pavel Zustiak , Takehiro Ueyama (TAKE), & Manuel Vignoulle for committing to openly giving guidance and insight into their own choreographic processes to our students over the 8 weeks. We are very happy to announce that STEPS has asked EMD back to continue this program with them next summer. We hope to see you in Creative Tools in 2013! Here are some pictures from the 2nd Session Final Showing on August 8th.
